Seamless and Strong: The Benefits of Porcelain Onlays for Broken Teeth

Preserving a broken tooth is of utmost importance at our clinic. Our conservative, yet modern approach prioritizes minimal invasiveness using advanced dental materials to rebuild the tooth to full strength.

We understand the damage teeth can undergo due to various factors, including normal wear and tear, cavities, heavy bite forces, or trauma, and failing to address these issues can lead to tooth loss. While a dental crown may be necessary in some cases, smaller fractures can be addressed with an onlay.

Onlays are an effective solution that restores damaged areas while preserving the unbroken portion of a tooth. Our custom-made porcelain onlays seamlessly blend with natural enamel, providing both functional and cosmetically pleasing restoration options. If our conservative approach aligns with your treatment plan, Dr. Sarah Behmanesh may suggest an onlay for ultimate restoration.

Advantages of Onlays

Aesthetic Appeal: Onlays blend seamlessly with your natural tooth color, making them nearly invisible compared to traditional metal fillings.

Stable Fit: Unlike metal fillings, onlays do not expand or contract with temperature changes, ensuring a consistent and secure fit.

Durability: These restorations are highly durable and can last up to thirty years, outlasting many other types of fillings.

Conservative Approach: Onlays require minimal removal of tooth structure, allowing for the preservation of more of your natural tooth while effectively repairing damaged or decayed areas.

How It's Done

Placing onlays typically involves two appointments.

Initial Visit: During your first visit, the dentist will take an impression of your tooth and send it to a lab to create a custom onlay. A temporary onlay will be placed to protect your tooth until your next appointment.

Second Visit: In the follow-up appointment, the dentist will remove the temporary restoration and fit your tooth with the permanent onlay received from the lab.

This process ensures a precise fit and optimal results for your dental restoration.
